DAY 1: Conquer Franschhoek Pass

TDFH Strava Timing – enter the TDFH club on Strava

Jerseys, prizes and positions will be determined using Strava Segment results uploaded post ride. Please be sure to download the Strava app at Strava.com. Participants who choose to participate in the King of the Mountain (KOM) are required to enter the TDFH Strava club click here.
This must be done ahead of the ride to qualify for prizes and results on the day.

Start your ride on Strava daily before departing and finish and upload within half an hour post ride.  No club entry or upload = no result. If you choose not to enter via Strava that is ok, but no results.

Note: Only riders entered for both days will be eligible for the KOM jerseys on Saturday and Sunday.

Remember: No Helmet no ride.

Event Programme: Day 1

6.30am to 7.30am Breakfast:
At your selected hotels, as arranged by you and the establishment.

8am: Rider Briefing: 

Meet at Sacred Ground coffee shop: The Square, 36 Huguenot Rd, Franschhoek, 7690, South Africa

8.30am – ±11.30am Ride 44km:

Rider Groups depart Franschhoek Main Road from outside Sacred Ground.

0-1,9km Start and NEUTRAL section to Haute Cabriere wine estate
1.9-7.3km King of the Mountain Section 1: Strava “Franschhoek Pass” climb for  with start from Haute Cabriere to top of pass marker.
7.3-34.9km Regroup into peloton and then NEUTRAL section descending and out to turning point and back to pass climb.
34.9-36.1km King of the Mountain Section 2: Strava “Lambrechts Road Climb” 1,1km, with marked start and end points.
36.1-44km Regroup and NEUTRAL section from top and descend into town returning to Sacred Ground.
KOM determined by sum of times on KOM sections above.

Participants purchase coffee, pastries at their leisure and return to hotels/accommodation for shower and freshen up.

Day 1: Post Ride Programme

12.30pm to 3pm Lunch, receive goodie bags and Prize giving:
Lunch at Bread & Wine on Moreson with tour group for those who have booked. (http://www.eatout.co.za/venue/bread-wine/) Address: Môreson Farm, Happy Valley Road, Franschhoek, Western Cape

Prizes awarded:
KOM jerseys and for weight categories (±85kg)
Spot prizes

3pm to 6pm:
Leave Bread & Wine and go back to town to watch Tour de France and afternoon sport.

Evening Dinner:
Evening open for participants to book and enjoy dinner in Franschhoek as they like –  this is not included in event plans, and is at entrants discretion.

DAY 2: To Helshoogte and Back

6.30am to 7.30am Breakfast:

At selected hotels as per your bookings and your arrangement with hotels/accommodation.

8am: Rider Briefing:

8.30am – ±11.30am Ride 50km:

Rider Groups depart Franschhoek Main Road from outside Sacred Ground.

0-18,3km Start and NEUTRAL section to Pniel
18,3-19,5km King of the Mountain Section 1: ” Strava “Up Pniels 2 Hills” marked section for 1km.
19,5-21,7km Regroup into peloton for NEUTRAL section
21,8-23,7 km King of the Mountain Section 2: Strava “Helshoogte Road Climb” for 1,9km.
23,7-36,6km Regroup and NEUTRAL section down climb
36,6km-37,4km Strava: L’Ormarins Blue Gum Climb for 800m.
37,4km-50km Regroup and NEUTRAL section returning to Sacred Ground.

KOM determined by sum of times on KOM sections above.

Day 2: Post Ride Programme

12.30pm to 3pm Lunch:
Tour lunch with tour group for those who booked:
